Imbalances around joints is not that easy to explain, especially in the shoulder, however detailed I try to explain it in writing. I have previously attempted a couple of times to explain it in a blog, but I’ve given up trying to write about it. So this time I’ve made a video that is about 7 minutes long explaining the most common imbalance I see with my patients regarding the shoulder joint. In the video I’ll show you on the skeleton about other joints affecting the shoulder and the muscles involved in stabilising it.

Unfortunately I won’t be able to explain all the issues that can affect the shoulder, but I have focused on the most common imbalance and the basics around it.
For all of you who recognise maybe a symtom or the posture I’m showing and want to do something about it, I’ve actually recorded my favourite exercises for you and will be posting them one by one. However, if it is a case of tight and overactive chest muscles, do remember to work on elasticity and length on them before you do the strengthening exercises. The least you should do is stretch the Pecs before you work the muscles on the back of the shoulder.

Enjoy learning and understanding the basics of muscular imbalance!
